"Honda Racing Co., Ltd. (HRC), Honda's race development subsidiary, has developed the HRC-K20C engine, which is based on the engine for the Civic Type R and is low-cost yet designed to be suitable for a variety of different racing categories from the 300 to 600 horsepower class. On November 7th, it was installed in the SF19 chassis for Super Formula at Suzuka Circuit and successfully completed a test run.
The HRC-K20C is a race-only engine based on the 2.0L VTEC TURBO K20C engine that is installed in the Civic Type R, which has been well received around the world. It has been developed with four variations in mind, from the 300hp Spec A to the 600hp class Spec D, and is durable enough to withstand long periods of full throttle driving that is unique to race circuits and unthinkable on public roads."
